Who We Are
The Sustainable Procurement Institute was established in the Toronto area of Canada and went into commercial operation in 2013. Its purpose is to serve the needs of those worldwide who buy goods and services and who wish to learn how to do this in an environmentally and socially responsible manner and for the lowest life cycle cost. Its customers are, for example, purchasing professionals, project managers, property managers, maintenance managers, and those aspiring to enter the purchasing profession. It is likely that sustainability will be the defining issue in the 21st century in the world of business as more and more organizations recognise the competitive and efficiency advantages that operations on a sustainable basis bring, as well as the serious risks to their long-term well-being that come with operations on an unsustainable basis.
Our Mission
It is our mission to help professional buyers and others who purchase goods and services in the public, private and non-profit sectors find the sustainability tools and techniques they need through delivering the high-quality online training courses relating to green procurement, ethical procurement, and sustainable procurement, including how to purchase on a lowest life cycle cost (whole life cost) basis. We specialize in sustainable procurement courses. We concentrate on our strengths in this field and therefore do not offer general courses in procurement. Our mission is also continuous improvement in our courses and we update all of our courses periodically as new fields in sustainability unfold and new ideas in sustainable procurement emerge internationally.
